Using Idioms in Real Life: Blessing in disguise

Elaina.C

On Saturday (28 May 2022) night, I was going to watch the Champions League final between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid with my partner, Joe, and his brother, Tony. The game was supposed to start at 8pm (GMT +1) and we were going to watch it using the BT Sport app on Tony's Firestick. Unfortunately, for some reason the BT Sport app kept freezing, then Tony's actual TV froze! We were worried we wouldn't be able to watch the game.

The game was postponed due to problems between the soccer fans and the Paris police. This gave us time to restart the internet and unplug/plug back in the TV.

Since we had to go through all this effort, and the game was postponed, we were able to see that the game was actually on a regular channel on the TV for free!

So, the problems with the app, internet, TV, and postponements all ended up being blessings in disguise!
If we didn't have the problems, we never would have seen that the game was on normal TV for free and if the postponement didn't happen, we would have missed the first half of the game!
