Amazing northern lights were seen in Finland this year!

Aleksi

Hi all!

Last weekend we were very lucky to witness extremely beautiful northern lights. Even though green ones are rare enough to see, we were able to see red ones as well! The aurora ''storm'' was so strong that people living in the southern parts of Finland were able to see them as well.

Did you know that the Finnish name ''revontulet'' (foxes fire) is said to come from the fact that the aurora borealis is believed to have been caused by the fur of the mythical Fire Fox rubbing against the trees?

Here are some pictures shared by the readers of the Finnish newspaper (is.fi). I do not own the pictures.

I wish all of you a great rest of the year and look forward to seeing you in future lessons!

Kind regards,
Aleksi
