Do you sprinkle salt on watermelon?/

Weekly Topic: Summer Photography: Show us picture that describes your summer!

Speaking of "summer", the first thing that comes up to my head is "Watermelon ".  During summer vacation, I often sat on the porch and ate watermelon. Do you sprinkle salt on watermelon? In Japan, it is common to sprinkle salt on watermelon because salt enhances the sweetness.

After eating watermelon, I gave Kabutomushi(Japanese rhinoceros beetles) the watermelon rind. I grew up in the countryside, and my grandmother who was an early riser used to pick up Kabutomushi for me.

These days, the number of Kabutomushi has decreased in Japan, and they are sold at pet stores.

Tmes have changed!

Several years ago, I received this fan (uchiwa) at Kamiya Bar in Asakusa. Kamiya Bar is the oldest bar in Japan. The most famous beverage is called "DENKI BRAN".
