We all have a movie that we have seen in our lives that has touched our hearts on a personal level. We could relate to the character(s) in the movie because perhaps, we went through a similar experience.
Do you have a character from a movie, TV show or anime that you felt a connection to?
This feeling we have comes from within our hearts and minds. It is known as “empathy”.
Empathy is the ability to see emotions being experienced by another person and when this happens you are able to then give “compassion” or “sympathy”.
Sympathy is the ability to feel sorry for someone. Maybe they are having a hard time and they need help.
Everyone in the world has felt the need for someone’s help before and we also know what it is like to help someone with a rewarding feeling.
In a movie, because we can see, hear and feel the emotions we want to “reach out” and help the character.
We become emotionally involved.
I find this to be an amazing experience! That's why I love movies featuring Tom Hanks.
He has done many movies that involve “Empathy” and “Sympathy”.
Apollo 13, Big, Forest Gump, Cast Away, Captain Philips, Sleepless in Seattle..
He has had an amazing career!
