Now that I’ve moved back to Japan again after 5 years of being back home in California, I realize again how great Japanese TV is! Most specifically the commercials that seemingly change on a daily basis.
In America, it’s quite typical to have to watch the same set of commercials on multiple different stations playing over and over again until the point of memorization.
Most American’s agree that they hate commercials overall, except for one special day of the year when millions of dollars are spent by advertisers. That day is known as “Super Bowl Sunday”.
Do you know of it? The Super Bowl is the championship game for American Football and it is held every year on a Sunday.
Because everyone in America wants to see the Super Bowl as it’s almost a cultural event, it is the only time us Americans are excited to see all the new expensive commercials. Even if you don't care about American football, at least you have fun commercials to watch.
However in Japan I feel like it’s Super Bowl Sunday every day! I’m surprised to see the fun nature and the amount of variations they do to the same commercial to keep it fresh. Every time I watch commercials here theirs a new one I haven’t seen before!
I especially like that Japan finds many famous American actors/actresses to do commercials. Some of them you would never find them in a commercial in America because they would be too expensive!
Those are my thoughts for today :)
