But who was Hans Christian Andersen and how did he become widely recognized? What are some of the main themes of his fairy tales?  This lesson overviews Andersen’s life and explores four of his most famous fairy tales.

  • Using a PowerPoint presentation, we will talk about Andersen’s life. 
  • Using images and key fragments, we will overview some of Andersen’s most famous fairy tales, discuss what you know about them, and explore their plots.
  • Using pictures, we will talk about the stories' main themes.
