Your New English Goals for Success
I will identify your strengths and weaknesses and create new goals for you, so you know what to focus on next.
Description
Objective of the lesson
Identify strengths and weaknesses and create new goals for improving your English.
Suitable students
This lesson is for teenagers and adults who want to improve their English. It is suitable for students studying at all levels from beginner to advanced.
Introduction of the lesson
One of the problems when studying English can be finding a good program of study that suits your needs. Without a program of study, you may also find that you do not have clearly defined goals.
Why is having goals important? If you have goals, you know where you are going and how long it should take.
Importantly, goals allow you and your teachers to monitor your progress. For example, we can see if you have managed to achieve your goals within a specific time frame.
Here are some examples of goals:
1. Use prepositions correctly in speech and writing.
2. Revise the present perfect tense and past simple tense and use them correctly.
3. Revise the future tenses and be able to speak accurately about future plans and events.
4. To practice pronouncing the 'r' sound and be able to say it correctly.
In summary, as we speak, I will make detailed notes of both your strengths and weaknesses. I will use this information to create new language learning goals for you. Then, you will have a clear idea of what you need to focus on now.
This goal setting lesson is extremely useful if you want to know the areas in which you need to improve.
In this lesson, we can begin with introductions. For example, where do you live? Do you live in the city or the countryside? Are you working or studying? What are your hobbies and interests? We can also talk about any other topics that you are interested in. As we speak, I will assess your ability in English, which will help me plan a suitable program of study for you in the future.
Finally, at the end of the lesson, I will correct any grammar or pronunciation errors that I recorded during our dicussion.
