Business/Materials
1. Power Point Presentation of Lesson.
2. Two quotes or quotations on feminism & the difference between men and women.
3. A picture of earlier proponents of feminism.
4. A picture of modern activists of feminism.
Lesson Objectives
1. Students will be able to understand the meaning of the term “feminism”.
2. Students will appreciate the history of feminism.
3. Students will be made aware of some myths, misunderstanding & confusion about feminism.
4. Students will learn about the development of feminism through four phases or waves.
5. Students will understand the relevance of feminism in the distant past as compared to modern times.
Warm-up and Objective Discussion
Using WH-questions, draw the attention of the students to two quotes on feminism & the difference between men and women.
Discuss the two quotes with the students & ask students for their opinion about how life in the world would be like without women?
Inform the students that today they will learn about “The relevance of feminism in the world yesterday and today.”
Instruct and Model
1. The Teacher draws the attention of the students to the definition of “feminism” & explain it.
2. With the use of WH-Questions, the Teacher guides students to identify some similarities between men & women e.g. intelligence, innate qualities, biological difference.
3. The Teacher discusses the history of feminism in the 19th & 20th centuries.
4. The Teacher also discusses the development of feminism through four phases or waves.
5. The Teacher guides the students to understand the relevance of feminism in the distant past.
6. The Teacher discusses with the students the relevance of feminism in the world today.
Guided Practice
1. Guide the students to explain the term feminism.
2. Let the students give their opinion as to whether feminism is relevant today.
3. Let the students give their reasons.
Assessment:
Let the students take a 10-Question Quiz on the meaning & relevance of feminism.
Wrap-up & Good-Bye:
The Teacher ends the lesson & says Good-Bye.
