Accepting Privacy Policies Without Reading Them

This class was created for intermediate level, adult ESL students who are business professionals or are interested in business. The class uses an exerpt from an article entitled, "Most People Just Click and Accept Privacy Policies Without Reading Them — You Might be Surprised at What They Allow Companies to Do,"written by Jennifer Schlesinger and Andrea, staff writers at CNBC.
Class materials consist of several sections. The exerpt is presented in the left column while vocabulary words that go with each paragraph are presented in the right one to help improve your business vocabularly. Following that, there is a list of the vocabular words, with a synonym and antonym to help increase your vocabulary further, and each is used in a sentence.
Next, are several discussion questions that can be used to stimulate a conversation and give you a chance to practice speaking while encorporating the vocabulary you have used.
During the reading and discussion sections, correction of pronunciation will help you become more clearly understood and increase your fluency.
Finally, if there is time, a fun crosswrord puzzle has been included to reinforce your memory or the vocabulary words and their meaning.
The article exerpt and vocabulary words are used as the foundation for the rest of the class. If discussion is generatede naturally then the questions may not be needed or we may choose to focus on one or two of them. There is always the option to take the class a second time if more discussion about the topic is desired.
You will be given a handout of the vocabulary, with synonyms and antonyms, and the crossword puzzle to practice further by yourself.
