Description:
This is a class for anyone who seeks assistance in the writing arena. However, this is a class unlike the others I offer because we will not actually communicate through Skype. This class has no set time and all communication will be through e-mail or CafeTalks messaging system. What I will do in this class is pose a discussion question and you will be required to write a 300-500 word short essay illustrating your opinions or thoughts on the given topic. You will then send me your finished work and I will review your writing and correct any errors I may come across as well as suggest possible rephrasing of sentences and reorganization of thoughts/ideas for a better, more fluent, text.
Possible Topics:
- Self-Introduction
- Describing your job and its significance
- Write a movie review on a movie you recently saw
- Would you consider immigrating to another country? Why or why not?
- What is your opinion of foreigners in your country? Do you think they have become a social problem?
- Is your country environmentally friendly? If yes, what are some of the ways your country is "going green"? If no, what are some of the things your country could be doing to better help the environment?
- If you were donating money to a poor country, what would you invest your money in? Why?
-What is the longest period of time you've had to live without easy access to water? How did that experience affect you?
- Is your population decreasing or increasing in size? Why?
- Which type of ethnic groups does your country have? Are there any controversial issues between them?
- Are young people active in politics in your country? If so, how?
- How would you describe the economical state of your country right now?
- What's your opinion of women in the workforce?
- What type of household is most common in your country? Do you support it?
- What effects, if any, has the over-65 population had on your country's economy? What effects has it had on you personally?
- Do you think it is important to marry someone from the same culture as yourself? Why?
- What types of women are considered beautiful in your culture? How does the media influence concepts of beauty? Do you agree with the mainstream idea of what beauty is?
Requirements:
- A short essay discussing the given topic
- Have an open mind and a willingness to accept corrections
