A Humble (and Reluctant) Thank You – or, How You’ve Made Me Look Far More Accomplished Than I’d Planned
2024年10月25日
Dear Students,
As some of you may know—and as many of you certainly do not—I have achieved the honor of ranking in various esteemed categories on Cafetalk’s Tutor Rankings. Please forgive me but for many months, I’ve ignored these accolades, (tutor awards) preferring to keep them hidden like a particularly ghastly Christmas sweater one feels obligated to wear once a year.. After all, announcing such achievements might look like the kind of “Look at me!” fanfare reserved for certain peacocks or French monarchs, which, let’s be honest, isn’t my style.
However, it has recently occurred to me (while not checking these rankings, naturally) that *you* are to thank for this. Yes, it’s your insistence on taking my lessons, your marvelously kind feedback, and your resilience in booking session after session that has brought these honors my way. My deepest thanks to you, the most discerning and undoubtedly clever students, for this.
You see, as much as I’d like to keep to the quiet life of the humble tutor, I realize that the highest form of gratitude I can offer is to acknowledge that without your support and your helpful nudges, I’d not be here in this dizzying top 20 teacher realm (which is ever so slightly above my pay grade).
So, in short: thank you for your wonderfully thoughtful feedback, your wit, your persistence, and your feedback (again, doubly important, really). I promise to continue my quest to serve you to the utmost, and I encourage you to keep that feedback coming, as it’s the best way I know to grow (aside from questionable amounts of caffeine, of course).
Ever yours in rankings, your humble servant,
Manning
