Q. Hi Nicole! Would you like to give us a quick self-introduction? I’d like to know about your city, New York! Could you share with us about your life there?

A. Hi everyone, My name is Nicole Kenneally. I’ve been living in New York for about 10 years now. I love New York City and there are tons of areas there that any tourist would enjoy. My top three would be the Empire State Building, Central Park and of course the Statue of Liberty. I currently live in Mahopac, NY which is an hour and a half away from the city and is part of Putnam County. My husband and I chose Mahopac because we feel that it’s a much better area to raise our children.

Q. According to your profile, you’re not only a teacher but also you’re a freelance writer and an analyst. Could you tell us about your jobs?

A. When I first moved to the US, I worked in various investment banking firms and later transitioned in the healthcare industry. After a few years, I circled back into the M&A industry and started working as an analyst in a healthcare investment banking firm which focuses. Even though I enjoyed my job, my real passion is writing and teaching. Luckily, I was able to become a contributor at The Epoch Times which is a Chinese Newspaper that is also headquartered in New York. This experience made me more confident, thus, I’ve decided to secure a TESOL certificate so I could teach online. I’ve never looked back since.

Q. How do you spend your day offs? Is there anything you are into right now?

A. On my day offs, I like to spend time with my children. I normally take them to their soccer games on Saturdays and we go grocery shopping on Sundays. Right now, I’m just focusing on my job as a parent and an English teacher. :-)

Q. What is the main feature of your lesson?

A.My lessons are geared towards general and business English. I use a book called Market Leader for all my lessons and some occasional worksheets from ESL Library per my students’ request. Another feature of my lessons are the fact that it is recorded. I normally send a copy of the mp3 file of the class to my students.

Q. Do you have any words of wisdom for our students?

A. All I can say is: Keep taking classes religiously, speak the language everyday and take note of the new words you learn everyday. It’s hard to learn a new language — I know it’s a cliche but “practice makes perfect”. :-)
