Hello! It is great to meet you. My name is Steve and I am a teacher and tour guide from the state of Kansas in the USA.
In 1997 I moved to Niigata, Japan and taught English at Niigata Commercial High School. After 2 years, I moved to Kitakyushu and became the head teacher for a tutoring school. For the next 7 years, I worked with students of all ages who wished to study abroad, pass entrance exams, or just improve their conversation skills.
I have a very easygoing teaching style. I believe lessons should be low-pressure and that the teacher should always be supportive of the student. I know that everyone learns in different ways, so it is very important to me that the student is comfortable with both the material as well as the way it is being taught.
In addition to giving lessons on Cafetalk, I also work as a proofreader for Hapa Eikaiwa and an editor for the Hapa Buddies' "How To Japan" website. https://howtojapan.net/
When I am not teaching I lead group tours to international destinations such as Japan, Ireland, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland. These groups usually consist of 30-40 English-speaking travelers. We always have a great time experiencing new cultures and making new friends from around the world.
When I am at home, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a wife, a 7-year-old daughter, and a 2-year-old son. Some of my hobbies include narrating audiobooks, playing board games, and painting miniatures.
I hope I get a chance to meet you soon. Take care, and goodbye for now.
