Hello,
I'm Simon and I'm from Leeds, in northern England. I used to live in Japan, where I spent four years teaching English (at AEON in Kyoto, and then GABA in Osaka and Tokyo). Before Japan I lived in Vancouver, Canada, where I also taught English for one year. I have been teaching english for a total of ten years in Canada, Japan, and on Cafetalk.
I speak British English, but I don't have a strong accent so you can understand me easily. I'm also very familiar with North American and Australian English, and I will always tell you when they are different. I teach fun lessons where you do most of the talking - we will always be relaxed, but you will always learn lots of new things and never just chat.
I was born in Scotland, but I grew up in the north of England (do you know Yorkshire?) and I studied neuroscience at Liverpool University. If you're not sure about the difference between Britain, the UK, England and Scotland, I'll be sure to explain it to you!
As well as teaching and learning languages, I love snowboarding (I was a snowboard instructor in Canada), scuba diving, rock climbing, hiking, football (soccer), reading, listening to music, and playing music (mainly blues piano, also harmonica, guitar and drums). My main passion though is probably travelling - I have been to 60 countries around the world, and I can't wait to go the rest of them!
Q. Hi Simon, please tell us a little bit about yourself. A. Hello everybody, my name’s Simon and I come from England. I was actually born in Scotland (like 007!), but my parents are English and we mo...
