Hello, Kia ora, Konnichiwa! My name is Genevieve and I am a native English speaker from New Zealand. I am a CELTA qualified English Language Teacher with experience teaching both intermediate level and above adult English students and children aged 10-13. I also have lots of experience coaching children in basketball and training adults to referee basketball.
Before becoming an English language teacher, I worked in the University environment helping many international students in the social sciences, visual arts and sciences, so I know lots about education, careers and different learning environments. I've been very lucky to be able to meet students from all around the world and all walks of life, and learn from them about different cultures and experiences. As your teacher I will do my best to share all of that knowledge and culture with you!
I am always professional and responsible, but I am also a fun and relaxed teacher that is very flexible in the way I help you achieve your goals. My university degree in English and the social sciences means I am great at communicating and I bring creativity and critical thinking to my lessons to help you maximise your learning.
I offer a range of lessons taught in English. They're not all specific to English language practice, but in all my lesson types you will be engaging with the English Language either by speaking and listening or by using text.
I also enjoy creating and improving my resources, and I'm always looking for ways to add lessons that meet my students' needs. If there is a topic that you're interested in, please let me know!
Note: I am available for lessons on both Skype and Zoom. My lessons are most suitable for adults (16 years +), but I am open to teaching children over the age of 10 in 30 minute lessons.
Some of my hobbies and interests include exercise (running, going to the gym, indoor rock climbing), trying new restaurants and cafes, and cooking dinner for my friends. I am a trained singer, dancer and actor and I have experience in circus acrobatics. I love performing arts, both as a participant and viewer. Growing up I was heavily involved playing, coaching and refereeing basketball. When I am not being active and going out, I love to watch movies and TV, and read and play board games. As you can see I have a wide range of interests, hopefully we have something in common! I look forward to learning about your interests!
