Hello. I'm Jeff and I'm based in Toronto, Canada. I'm an English teacher with experience teaching English in Japan, where I engaged with students across various age groups and settings, from large classes to personalized sessions.
For almost three years, I lived and taught English in Otaru, Japan. I absolutely loved living in this unique, northern town in Hokkaido and I met so many amazing students while teaching. I even hosted a radio program on Otaru's local radio station! Being welcomed as part of the community and having impact on the lives of my students was truly one of the highlights of my life.
I have a very friendly, natural teaching style. I like to emphasize communication over perfection, but I am also very comfortable working on improving specific grammar or usage points, particularly if that is my students' aim for a lesson.
My career since has focussed on business and technology and I am currently working at an education software company. I am very comfortable conversing on topics involving corporate life, the tech world, startups and business strategy.
Beyond work, I have a strong passion for music. I play guitar, bass, and piano, and I also enjoy composing my own music. Sports like tennis and soccer are also interests of mine, along with camping and, of course, indulging in a good read.
In our conversations, I will prioritize creating a comfortable environment. Whether we're focusing on English improvement, delving into business and tech topics, discussing music, sports, outdoor adventures, literature, or any topic that my students are passionate about, I'm here to make our discussions engaging and rewarding.
Let's connect for a session and kickstart your learning together!
