Yoppy Tutor Profile

Nice to meet you!

I’m a Taiwanese who loves Japan. Please call me Yoppy (よっぴー) if you like.

I majored in Japanese language at university and joined a cram school right after I graduated.

and have been working as a Japanese teacher in Taiwan.

I went to Japan for the first time during summer vacation when I was a sophomore in college.

I had only studied for a year at the time, but I went by myself. I tried my best to express what I wanted to say in my own words with my limited vocabulary.

I was really thrilled when I was able to communicate with Japanese people in Japanese.

I realized that speaking is the most important thing when it comes to languages.

I thought the best way to improve would be to stay in that country if possible, so during my junior year, I passed the exam and stayed in Osaka for a year as an exchange student.

After graduation, I have continued to travel to Japan once or twice a year to improve my Japanese.

However, perhaps because I had never worked in Japan previously, I felt somewhat self-conscious and unsure of myself.

In order to have more confidence in myself, I applied for a working holiday visa in 2013 and worked part-time at a Sanrio store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo for about 6 months.

It was the first time I had stayed in Japan for a long period of time in 10 years, so unlike when I was an exchange student, I was able to open up more, go to different places, and talk with different Japanese people.

Because of this, I feel like I can finally speak Japanese a little more like my mother tongue.

I’ve never taught Chinese at a cram school or school before. However, I have taught it to my Japanese friends as a hobby, and they say, “you knows so much about Japan, so your explanations are easy to understand. Not only are you good at teaching Japanese to Taiwanese, but also to teach Chinese to Japanese!”
My friends comments like this pushed me to become a Chinese teacher.

I’m still a newbie, but I hope that I can help you learn Chinese, so I registered to Cafetalk.

Please feel free to join me for a fun conversation in Chinese!
