Hi everyone!

My name's Ashley, and I'm a native British English speaker from the UK. I'm qualified to teach English as a second language, and specialise in one-to-one teaching.

About my lessons
I offer casual English conversation classes for adult learners, with error correction and feedback to help you improve your English communication and fluency, and sound more natural.

We can talk about any topic of your choice, so that you learn vocabulary that is relevant and useful for you.

I also offer specialised English lessons focusing on discussing news stories and studying with TED talks. And if you enjoy Harry Potter, check out my Harry Potter reading class!

Like to study on your own? I offer transcripts for TED videos that you can use to improve your listening skills and broaden your vocabulary outside of lessons!

Do you need a piece of written work proofread by a native speaker? Then check out my proofreading service! I have many years' experience proofreading for students and companies in a professional context, and also work as a professional writer.

I aim to create a relaxed learning atmosphere, and deliver lessons that are both challenging and fun, to ensure that you get the most out of them.

Talking with a native speaker is one of the best ways to improve your language skills, so you will do lots of speaking in my lessons!


About me
I have been learning Japanese for several years, so I understand the challenges of learning a new language – and also how much fun it can be!

Japan is my favourite place in the world, and I recently spent two years living there with my boyfriend, David, who also teaches on Cafetalk. If you are interested, please check our instagram account to see some of the photos from our trip!

In addition to teaching English, I am also a freelance writer who writes regular articles about Japan for travel websites and magazines including the Japan Times, Kansai Scene, Metropolis and GaijinPot. Before I left the UK, I worked at a top university in London.

I enjoy reading, yoga, watching TV shows and movies, travelling and playing video games (=^.^=)

As well as a TEFL qualification, I have a first class BA with Honours from University College London, and a Master's degree with Distinction from King's College London, both in Philosophy. I have also passed level N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.



I'm passionate about languages, and really enjoy helping my students to reach their full potential and achieve their personal English goals. I promise I will do my best to help you become a better language learner!
