Lauraラウラ Tutor Profile

Hello everyone! Nice to meet you, I'm Laura. I'm Italian and I'm from Venice, and I have been living in Japan for 9 years. I am currently based in Kobe, working as a freelance Italian teacher, interpreter, translator, and artist. I held a one woman exhibition in August!

【Background】I am from Lido di Venezia (Venice Lido), the island where the Venice Film Festival is held! While I was attending Ca' Foscari University of Venice, I studied abroad at the Osaka University of Foreign Studies, then after graduating I received my Ph.D in Japanese Language and Culture from Osaka University.

【Teaching Experience】I have taught Italian courses at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Italian Institute of Culture in Osaka.

【Interpreting and Translating Experience】I have translated the corporate profiles of Japanese companies (Japanese -> Italian) and worked as a consecutive interpreter at Japanese culture events (martial arts, kimono, etc.) in Venice.

【Japanese Level】I received my level 1 certification in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2004. When I worked at the Venice branch of FURULA, I provided customer service in Japanese to guests from Japan.

【Hobbies】Creating works of art, making accessories, reading, walking, art appreciation

If you like Italy, or if you like Venice, please come have fun learning Italian with me!

I have a very calm and gentle personality and I can tailor the lessons to fit your personal needs and interests. Please feel free to consult with me. My motto is "Slow and steady, but fun!" I think it's important to learn step by step and in detail. Being enthusiastic and having fun is what's most important :) If you have any trouble understanding or using certain expressions, please ask as many questions as you want. Just like with anything else, language is something that we learn through repetition. On the other hand, don't be afraid of making mistakes, during my class the emphasis is more on just trying talk and communicate.
