講師休假中。
My name is Federico Gelsomini, I am a Ditals certified Italian teacher and a specialist in teaching Italian to foreigners.
 
I'm from Foligno, a small city in the center of Italy, in Umbria, but I live in Rome, the Capital, the Eternal City ...

If you need an experienced and relaxed teacher who likes to talk about culture, art, food ... but also joke ... and who fully understands your needs, I'm the right one for you.
 
My teaching experience
I began teaching Italian my last year at University in Perugia, then I started doing it professionally in Japan (I speak Japanese, as well as English, Sopanish, French ... and a little Chinese).

Since 2009 I have been teaching at Sapienza, Rome University
I teach at all levels, from A1 to C2, although I prefer levels from A1 to B2.
 
What can I help You to do
I can help you improve in various areas, such as:
      - Speaking and fluency
      - Writing, both academic and specialist
      - Listening and reading comprehension
      - Pronunciation and accent reduction
      - Specialized vocabulary: for example music, art, business, religion, design, etc.
      - Preparation of certification exams (CILS, CELI, PLIDA). I am a CILS examiner and I collaborated in the creation of PLIDA tests.
      - Obviously general conversation and insights on culture, history, travel, food and wine ...
 
Learning process in my lessons
> I start with a needs analysis through conversation to understand what your needs are and which are the areas that we have to work on most.
> Lessons are based on your communicative and cultural needs.
> After a quick introduction, we proceed with a listening or reading of  an input and then we procede through the comprehension of new linguistic structures, vocabulary and culture notes.
> After the comprehension, we start the active section, practicing togheter in a relaxed and funny atmosphere, so that you don't have to be afraid of mistakes and can focus on the speaking.
 
Lesson planning
- We use shared documents for assignments and lesson notes, togheter with Skype/Zoom chat notes.
- Lesson planning is individual and based on your study objectives.
- I'll send you weblinks with exercises that you can do online and upon request I can send you feedback with audio/video support on them.
- If you need to practice for Language Proficiency Certification, I can provide you with past exam papers to train with more focus.

During lesson
I give you corrections and feedback, but without breaking the flow of the conversation. I only use them as a reinforcement and support, always keeping the focus on communication.

P.S. Please note that I do understand English and Japanese. If needed I can use those languages, however usually I just use Italian (with the right techniques...), to let you reach a better immersion and acquisition.
