Ren Walt Tutor Profile

About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Raynard, but please call me Ren. I live in a small village in Ontario, Canada. I love teaching English and connecting with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I have taught thousands of English lessons to people of all ages and abilities. I have helped many people reach their goals, and I can help you too. Learning English can take time, but it can also be fun. What do you want to talk about?

I began teaching English when I lived in Tokyo, Japan from 1998-2002 where I worked mainly for Berlitz. I taught in language centers, universities, and businesses all over Tokyo, and I loved it. I have taught English to international exchange students in Canada. I have also worked as a coach and a trainer for many years. At home I am a private tutor, helping children improve their grades and high school students write essays. I have a degree in English Literature from Waterloo University.

My Style:

Learning a language should be enjoyable. Students have told me they enjoy my lessons because they are fun, and relaxed with plenty of time to practice. I like to get to know my students, go at your pace, and have conversations about the things you are interested in. I want to keep lessons interesting: practicing grammar, idioms, and everyday or formal English using role-playing, reading, pictures, games, and videos. Learning English does not have to be boring. I will provide helpful homework if you want more practice, but it is optional. Try my Counseling Session and we can check your English level, and talk about your goals and where to begin.
