I remember as a small child I really loved the illustrations in this book. The ending is also the original fairytale ending and a lot sadder than the Disney film version, which I really found interesting as a child.

『いらないねこ』：画家であり絵本作家のヒグチユウコさんの作品で、初めは独特な絵が好きで購入しましたが、胸が締め付けられるほど号泣する作品でした。特に大人になって読むといろんな感情が動かされて読み終わった後のぼーっとする感じの時間をぜひ体験していただきたいです！世界でも翻訳されたものがあるので、外国語版も読みたいなと思っています。

赤ちゃんから読める自己肯定感をはぐくむ絵本として紹介されているのを見て姪っ子に購入。この本を読んでもらってかた半年ほど経ちますが、絵本のフレーズ「あんよが、とってもかわいいね〜」などど姪っ子に呼びかけるとニッコニコで反応してくれるので買ってよかったな〜と思える作品でした！
