私が高校卒業後に東京に上京する際プレゼントしてくれました。読書好きで病院のベットでも源氏物語を読んでいたほどです。日常のあたり前の生活を綴ったエッセイですが、毎日を大切に丁寧に生きていってほしいという祖父の願いだったのかもしれません。

妊娠中のグアムでの新婚旅行中にお腹の中の赤ちゃんのために購入した絵本です。お腹の中にいる間から生まれてからもずっと読み聞かせてました。英語で意味がわからないので辞書で調べて心を込めて読めるようにしました。２番目の子どもにも読み聞かせたので、今ではボロボロです。

幼少のときにもらった本です。幼いながらも、周囲の変化とそれに適応する葛藤について考えさせられた作品です。

悲しくも切ない青春が描写されており良作。
お月さまになりたい
小学一年生の時に買ってもらった絵本。ちょっと生意気な犬と「ぼく」とのやりとりがコミカルで、ラストにはほのぼのとしたものを感じたことを覚えています。大好きな本でした。
星の王子さま
小学生のとき、両親からクリスマスプレゼントでもらいました。毎年、クリスマスの時期になると読み返しています。
三びきのやぎのがらがらどん
子どもの頃に貰い、絵も話もとても怖かった記憶があります。細かいストーリーは忘れてたので改めて読み返しましたが、大人になった今読んでも怖かったです…絵本は奥深いです。

学生時代に大切な友人の誕生日プレゼントとして贈りました。一番最初の「名前」についての短編が誕生日を祝うのにぴったりだったのと、表紙が華やかでタイトル通りプレゼントになると思ったのが理由です。私が引っ越して友人とはなかなか会えない距離だったけれど、本を通じて繋がっている気持ちになりました。今も、書店でこの本を見つけると、その子のことを思い出します。

友人の一人が、娘の誕生日にプレゼントをしてくれました。当時二児の育児、家事で大変だった時に、亡くなった私の母が昔、私たちをたくさんお世話してくれたこと、また現在の自分と重ね合わせて、子供に読みながら、涙がとまらなくなった一冊です。母に対する我が子の思い、母に対する子の思いが実に見事に書きあらわされています。

本好きな私の誕生日プレゼントに、と夫が仕事帰りに書店に寄って選んでくれたそうです。「好きそうだな」と雰囲気で選んでくれたその本、確かに私の好きな本でした！・・・というのも実は、ちょっと前に電子書籍版で読み終わっていまして。上下巻、どちらも。でも、本に興味がない夫（隙あらば私の蔵書を資源ごみに出そうとする）が、私に選んで買ってくれたのが嬉しかったです。ここシンガポールでは書籍の値段が日本の倍近くするので、つい「もったいない！！」と言いそうになったけど、それは口に出しませんでした。
私たちの幸せな時間
20年近く前に、当時付き合っていた韓国人の彼からもらった韓国語の本です。書棚に置いたままでしたが、このアンケートを機に取り出してみました。当時は難しくてとても読み切れなかったですが今はだいぶん読めるようになりました。当時の思い出がフラッシュバックする本です

What I love most about the book is that I discover different meanings each time I read it. It never feels old to me because, despite its simple and honest core, it makes you reflect on many truths about the universe we live in. It's both beautiful and cruel, a story that's happy yet also sad. It resonates with everyone.

個人感受整本書部分章節寫作手法不同，需要稍微熟悉一下寫法才比較容易閱讀
特別之處：先前讀過的書籍多由台灣人撰寫，每次讀到台灣人被欺負的片段總是氣得牙癢癢的，而這本書的視角是一位美國人，同一事件，但看事情的角度不同、觀察到的點也不同。其他：如果要用三個點總結，我會說讓我印象最深刻的是：美國人觀點、行政長官決策和旁觀蔣家人。全書可以輕易地從各種大小事件中看出當時美國人是怎麼看台灣的、也可以輕易地感受到在各個衝突中，美國的為難角色。閱讀期間，時不時會出現「啊～原來是這樣」、「真的假的」「果然」「難怪」的各種自我內心對話。除此之外，前半部分對於當時行政長官的決策行為有更仔細的描述，與學生共讀時，學生也不時做出「太扯了」的評論，也許整本書讀完後因為瑣碎事件過多無法一一記得，但驚訝參雜著難過感卻會伴隨著你好久、好久一段時間。而書中大約中後段有更多對於蔣家人在這段歷史中的描述，有許多我們未曾從教室中習得的知識，而其中原因，也值得我們好好深思。

They were published from the 1940s to 60s, so they have been a favourite for several generations.My mother read them when she was young and then introduced them to me, so they are a special memory from my childhood.
Although they were written a long time ago, the English is still mostly clear and suitable for present-day readers. They are children's books, however, I recommend them even to adult readers. The level is good for intermediate students and the stories are fun even for adults. You can also learn a lot about British culture.

I really enjoyed this beautifully written story which takes place in South Carolina and follows three points of view — Olivia , Parisa , and Sophie- dealing with the topics like belonging and moving forward.Olivia is an American living in Japan married to a Japanese man and has two children a son and a daughter Sophie who is representative of the deaf community and Parisa -- Olivia's Indian sister in law who they go to visit in America after the death of Olivia`s brother. This is a slice of life book with some delicate romance mixed in --All the characters are complex and interesting, and give a good look at a multicultural family. I really enjoyed this book and hope to share it with many of you -- It is of Intermediate level of English.

C2402草莓與灰燼兩年前，我還在念碩士班時，參加學校每年的閱讀日活動，第一次幸運地抽到了作者的簽名書——《草莓與灰燼》，可說是千辛萬苦寫著論文的期間，最棒的禮物！者房慧真是記者，善於採訪與撰稿。這本散文的書籍以現實生活為根基，面對世事，諸如洗頭髮、吃小吃、看社會新聞、坐車移動等，或是觀看眾生相，遇見流浪漢、工人、虎斑貓等，時而在台灣，時而在他國，有時冷眼觀察，有時投入其中，無論何時何地，見到人間的善與惡之際，都有她的關注與分析，帶有一絲的關懷，觀看並提出自己的感受和想法，用細膩的文字讓我們也彷彿身歷其境，並一同加入思索的行列。
