I had the vaccine in the UK!

Today I finally was able to recieve my Corona Virus vaccine!

In the UK we have been really fast to distribute the vaccine, so even me, a 24 year old, was able to have the shot today.

It was easy to book, and I was able to get the shot within 48 hours of booking!

I was very, very nervous when I went to the vaccination centre. I hate needles, and always feel faint after getting a shot.

When I arrived, things got even worse! Someone inside the vaccination centre had collapsed, and an ambulance was needed to escort them to the hospital.

Everyone who was waiting for their shot became even more nervous than before. There was a long delay because of the incident, and the longer I waited, the more nervous I became. My hands were shaking a little (lol).

When I was finally let in to the building, the nurses were really friendly! They ask you about any allergies you may have, and I told her that I was frightened. I told them that I definitely didn't want to see the needle. The nurse was very understanding, and told me to look away. I had a little chat with the nurse about clothes to distract me from the injection.

After, I was offered water and sent to a large waiting room where people who had the vaccine sat for 15 minutes. If they showed no side-affects and were not in pain by the end of the 15 minutes, they were allowed to go home. Time passed quickly, and I left without feeling any discomfort.

It has been around 7 hours since I had the vaccine, and I have had no side effects what-so-ever! I heard from many friends that young people experience side effects the next day, like fatigue or a sore arm. I'm prepared for it.

Today I had the PFizer vaccine. The experience (apart from the ambulance!) was very pleasant, and even someone like me who is terrified of injections wasn't bothered by it.

I would love to hear what it is like to be vaccinated in other countries! The UK is one of the fastest countries in the world to distribute the vaccine, and I am very very thankful. In 11 weeks I will take the 2nd dose, but many people say that it is not as bad as the 1st injection. Bring it on!!

Hey, congrats Abbie! Heard the UK was really doing well with the vaccine roll-out. Very good for you!
I just had a 2nd dose this week - yes, I'm old! I had a sore arm but that was it. No other side effects. Maybe I was feeling a bit tired but I am always tired (you know why!) but one of my hubby's co-wokers had a fever and couldn't get up next day. He is our age and looks fit, fitter than us. So it really depends on the person, I guess. Thanks for sharing your experience. Take care, Abbie!
