Some of the strangest food I've eaten comes from carnivals* and fairs* because they want to be creative and attract people to buy their food. Some of the food includes:
Deep-fried butter - Yes, they actually coat the butter with breadcrumbs and fry it in high heat oil. It is an interesting creation.
Donut cheeseburgers - There are two donuts (instead of a bun), and the cheeseburger is in the middle.
All of these are an ACQUIRED TASTE.
Acquired Taste is an idiom that has been used since the 1800s.
The word acquired is used in the sense of something one learns or develops, and while the word taste is used to refer to food most of the time, it can refer to anything that someone likes or enjoys, such as one’s taste in music or their taste in movies.
So, Acquired Taste means that we have to learn to like this food.
