To achieve and maintain the motivation, you need to take a hard look at your behaviours, habits, or lack thereof to find the solution. You are combating common motivation killers that need to be eradicated or improved so you can continue down the path of success.
Here are seven motivation killers stalling your success and what you can do about it:
I. IDEAS FROM ME
Poor Planning and Lack of Direction
Setting unrealistic or unclear goals eats away at your desire to achieve. Poor planning leads to overthinking and overworking that only creates stress and leaves you feeling overwhelmed. When you are overwhelmed, you are unlikely to take action or do with energy and urgency.
Fear of Failure
Identify your true resistance to failure and why It makes you scared to continue or experience it. What is so scary or daunting about failing that is preventing you from taking the necessary steps in the first place? Thinking or fearing failure takes up useful time you could be using to improve and do better instead. It clouds your judgment leading to poor decisions and overall performance.
Imposter Syndrome and Negative Self
Decreased self-confidence and self-awareness further keep you down. They are often rooted in past mistakes and things that don’t have any value to reality now. The moment you notice these things, you must take action to reverse them. Believe you have what it takes and find more time to seek out more education and practice to improve.
Being too Envious of Others
Constantly comparing yourself to others will only encourage negative-self talk and make you take steps that are not necessary. You don’t need to covet what others have. You will experience the success you earn. These things will never be yours. Likewise, their house, promotion, and relationships, even if you want those same things, can never be yours as you are unique and your own person.
Being Too Impatient
Most sustainable success doesn’t happen overnight. You can’t expect to eat healthy for one night and lose weight the next morning, for example. It took you months or even years to get to where you are. Accept that success and goals take time and permit yourself to enjoy the process. You’re going to learn from your journey as well as the results you get.
Expecting Perfection
The pathway to success is not always pretty. However, most successful people have failed or pushed through some uncomfortable moment to get what they want. They understood from the start that there might be some setbacks along the way, but that doesn’t deter them from getting started. Instead, they plan for it and expect it, so it doesn’t keep them down or blindside them when approaching it.
Poor Support System
You can’t do life all by yourself all the time. Being alone all the time, even for an introvert, is very unhealthy. You need people there to support you to keep the momentum and drive going. Find people to surround yourself with who share similar goals and interests and keep them in your close circle.
