This Hungarian-born biochemist is one of the biggest hiros of the world nowadays. She is known for her pionering research into RNA, particularly the development of messenger RNA vaccine, against the COVID-19 pathogens. Yes, probably you have also Moderna or Biontech-Pfizer vaccine in your body too.
She grew up in a little village in Hungary, where she expressed an interest in nature and science. She graduated with doctoral degree from the university Szeged and worked at the Biological Research Centre. In 1985 moved (escaped) to the USA. She used to have tough times in US, she and her research weren't really accepted. In 2021, a major breaktrough came during the COVID-19 pandemic. She and her group developed the mRNA vaccine, relying on synthetic technologies, without any need for actual virus particles.
Katalin Karikó never gave up, she is a very diligent, kind and modest person. She has an olympi

c winner daughter as well. I think a perfect role model for everybody.
