I'm an Island Girl at Heart!

Weekly Topic: Would you rather go to the sea side or go climb a mountain?

Celia

I'd much rather go to the beach than climb a mountain, for many reasons. First, I grew up on a small island where I visited the beach regularly, so I feel very familiar with the seaside. The scent of the ocean is nostalgic for me, and I love the sound of the waves crashing upon the beach. Another reason is that I'm not very sporty and I don't like climbing uphill, so climbing a mountain is too much hard work for me! I like seeing the pretty view from the top, but I'm lazy and would rather get a chairlift to the top!
Are there many beaches where you live? On the island I grew up on, we have some of the best beaches in the world. Many are sandy with beautiful golden sand, but there are also stony beaches where you can collect pretty pebbles. The island I grew up on is Guernsey in the Channel Islands (between the UK and France). If you'd like to learn more about Guernsey, the Channel Islands, and its history, please take a look at my special UK campaign lesson. It's suited to skilled English language learners of CEFR B1 level and above. Thanks!
