The impact of the Covid pandemic may have been so deep that it altered people’s personalities, study suggested.

Previously psychologists have failed to find a connection between collective stressful events, such as earthquakes or hurricanes, and personality change. However, something about the losses experienced or simply the long grind of social isolation appears to have made an impact.

“Younger adults became moodier and more prone to stress, less cooperative and trusting, and less restrained and responsible,” according to the authors of the study, led by Prof Angelina Sutin of Florida State University College of Medicine.

the long grind of: 長い間に
prone to: 生じやすい

I can really relate to this study.
わかる!わかるだよ!
我太懂了!

Because of the pandemic, I've failed to go back to China for nearly 3 years. On the one hand, I've been in this semi-isolation for these years, which makes me moodier and more likely to be stressful. On the other hand, it di
srupted a couple of plans, such as my wedding and the transition into the workforce and being sociable and developing relationships in Japan. Just as
Prof Sutin said, “These tasks are very important for my age group.”

At the end of the article, it reads that this research will find out whether the personality shifts are temporary or more enduring. For me, I also wanna know whether this "new me" is just for now or forever if I manage to go back to stay with my parents for a while and see my family and friends next year (I HOPE!!!).

Thanks for reading! That's what I wanna share with you guys today. If you also feel related to this article, how about a chat with me? I'm looking forward to talking to you all!
