English Animal Words That are Used as Insults

Tutor Renee

An animal is a living creature.

According to
Oxford Advanced American Dictionary, an animal is a creature that is not a bird, a fish, a reptile, an insect, or a human. There’re many animals that are kept by man as a source of pleasure and companionship, called pets. Examples of popular pets are dogs, cats, horses and birds.

An insult is an offensive word or remark. An insult can also be through hurtful actions.

1.      Pig

Pigs are domestic animals that have short legs. They are sometimes referred to as swine or hogs. They provide humans with useful items such as meat(pork) and leather

When you call someone a pig, you think that they are greedy and dirty.

2. Donkey

Donkeys are domestic animals that belong to the horse family, although they tend to be shorter than horses. They can be white, grey or black in colour.

When you call someone a donkey, you think that they are stupid or foolish.

 3.      Rat

Rats are long-tailed rodents and are a source
of food for many predators and scavengers. These rodents cause significant damage to property, crops, and food supplies, are known to damage property, and spread diseases, posing a serious risk to public health.

When you call someone a rat, you think they are horrible and nasty.

4.      Bitch

A bitch is a domestic female dog, fox or wolf. These animals are loved by humans.

The word bitch is used towards women when one feels that they are unkind and difficult to deal with. If you say that someone is bitching about something, you mean that you disapprove of the fact that they are complaining about it in an unpleasant way.

 5.      Chicken

Chickens are birds which are kept on a farm for eggs and meat.

If someone calls you a chicken, they mean that you are afraid to do something.
