ESL for 2024: 5 tips

Kana E.

We made it through the first week of 2024!

Have you made it your resolution to become fluent in English in 2024? Are you unsure how to organize your learning plan, or need help figuring out what to study? Here are 5 tips to put you on the right path towards learning English!

1. What is your current English level? Knowing where you are starting from is the first step. Even if you are starting from zero!
2. Basic phrases and introductions! When you first start out, its imperative that you memorize basic phrases and how to introduce yourself.
3. Grammar structure! Where does the subject, verb, and object appear in a sentence in your native language? English sentences follow a subject - verb - object structure, so this will help you arrange words in the correct order to formulate a sentence.
4. Vocabulary! Priotize vocabulary that you use in everyday situations - at home, at work, or at school. Think about what subjects you like to discuss in your native language, and focus on learning their English equivalent. You are much more likely to stay immersed in studying if you are studying something of interest!
5. Immersion! Even if you do not sit down to write and practice, immersing yourself in the language will help you absorb the content. For example, I always listen to music and watch dramas in my target language!

I hope these tips help! English fluency with Kana is calling, will you answer?
