Learning songs in another language ^^

Zoe O

Hello ^^

Have you heard of the band ONE OK ROCK?

They are a popular band in Japan and overseas and they are also one of my favourite bands to listen to.

I decided to cover their song 'Wherever You Are'.  I recorded two versions of the song (the second one will be released soon).

Learning songs in another language is one of the best ways to learn another language.  Even if you are not sure of what you are singing, it is another form of shadowing where you can greatly improve your listening skills and pronunciation.

When we are listening to songs, we listen closely to the lyrics, melody and rhythm and this helps us to hear the differences between language accents and sounds.  Then as we shadow (copy aloud), we train our voices to produce the same sounds and once we start understanding what we are singing then we have learned in a very natural and fun way.

Even if you don't sing often or think you can't sing, try and learn a few songs in your target language and that will help towards your language learning goals and fluency.
