Favorite quotes and sayings

Weekly Topic: What is your favorite quotes and sayings? What is the meaning of it, and why do you like it?

Sophie.

I love good quotes and sayings and often note them down when I come across ones that resonate with me. Here I will share 3 of my personal favourites.

" Rehearse death. To say this is to tell a person to rehearse his freedom. A person who has learned how to die has unlearned how to be a slave"- Seneca

I am guilty of putting things off because I can do them later but what if I lose interest in it, I have different priorities or I don't have the chance anymore in the future? I try to keep this quote in mind when making decisions and also realising that I'm not going to have forever to do the things I want to do. By remembering that I need to take my life into my own hands, it pushes me to do things and take the initative.

" Only the thoughts that we live out have any value"- Demian by Hermann Hesse

You can think and overthink about everything but that doesn't get you anywhere. Only when you action your thoughts, does anything really happen. I like this because I think we are sometimes in our heads too much either worrying or overthinking. All of this doesn't help us in anyway. I can also be really indecisive so this quote helps me alot.

" When you don't dress like everyone else then you don't have to think like everyone else."- Iris Apfel

This quote always reminds me about being and embracing yourself as much as you can. Everyone is unique and has something unique to offer the world in different ways. This can be as simple as wearing things that you like even if they aren't trendy or the normal. In a world that sometimes feels like we have to be and act like everyone else, it's refreshing to read/hear things that encourage us to be ourselves. I also really admire Iris!
