課程介紹
This course is conducted entirely in English.
The English Language American History Course 4 focuses on the post-Civil War USA, and the industrial and economic growth that characterized the period known as the "Gilded Age". It covers, in this order:
-Connecting a divided nation: the Transcontinental Railroad
-The end of Reconstruction and the Beginning of Jim Crow
-Immigration in late 19th century America
-The growth of industry and the worker's plight
-The Spanish-American War
Each lesson in this pack will focus on one of these periods, in chronological order (that is, from earliest to latest).
Students will recieve at least one (and occasionally more) pre-lesson reading assignment to give them some insight into the content of the lesson itself. Lesson content will consist mainly of a slide presentation, along with general discussion and questions about the topics/events within the presentation. After the lesson, the student will be expected to either write or record a reflection on the completed lesson of approximately one paragraph in length. The prompt for this reflection will be provided at the end of the lesson by the tutor.
This course is perfect for those looking to increase their knowledge of American history for whatever reasons they may have. It is also useful to those looking to improve their writing, speaking, and general English skills in a non-traditional manner of practice.
Currently, proficiency in English is required for these courses.
