(when traveling to an English-speaking country)
课程介绍
Starting the lesson, I would ask the student to give an example of somewhere he/she would like to travel where he/she would need to ask questions in English.
Useful questions would include:
"Excuse me, but could you tell me where the bathroom is?"
"Excuse me, but could your recommend a restaurant that is a favorite of the locals?"
"Excuse me. I am looking to shop for something in particular. Could you recommend a shop/shops/area?
While at a restaurant -
"May I ask if you are a cash-only establishment or is it possible to pay with a credit card as well?"
"Excuse me. I have an allergy/allergies to ______. Could you please make sure that my dish does not have ______?"
"Excuse me. Do you offer gluten-free dishes?"
"Excuse me. Is it possible to order my dish with the sauce on the side?"
While asking about transportation -
"Excuse me, but what is the quickest way to get to ______?"
"Excuse me, but is it faster to take public transportation or a taxi to get to this certain destination?"
"Excuse me, but could you please tell me what the average fare is for the bus/train/subway?"
After going through these questions, I would then have the student practice what he/she has just learned by participating in a conversation with me.
(This lesson plan will be great for beginners and intermediate students. As beginners, the questions may be hard to remember, but would be useful to write down. The same would apply to intermediate students.)
