General Conversations on Learning to speak English

LESSON PLAN FOR CONVERSATION

LEVEL: Basic & Intermediate DURATION: 30 minutes

Business/Materials

1. Pronouns e.g. I, You, It, We, They etc. written on whiteboard.

2. Possessive adjectives e.g. My, Yours, Ours, Theirs etc. on the whiteboard.

Lesson Objectives

1. Students will be able to do simple conversations using pronouns & possessive adjectives.

2. Students will be able to speak simple English through conversations in the following: your name, country, favourite food, hobby etc.

Warm-up and Objective Discussion

Using questions, draw the attention of the student to English as widely spoken language.

Discuss some of the benefits one can derive from speaking English fluently.

Instruct and Model

1. Ask WH questions about name, country, favourite food, hobby etc.

2. Listen and correct errors the student may make in his/her responses.

3. Ask the student to imagine a scenario in a restaurant.

4. Act as a waiter and let the student ask questions in order to order food.

Guided Practice

1. Let the student imagine that he/she is a stranger who has met you in the street.

2. Let the student ask for directions to the nearest supermarket.

Independent Practice

1. Let the student compose 5 sentences using possessive adjectives and read them out.

2. Correct the errors.

Assessment:

Let the student take a quiz by filling in the blanks to 5 sentences on a simple conversation.
