課程介紹
Let's do what many online tutors do: hold a conversation to polish your skills in speaking and understanding English. Let's not stop there, but use the conversation as a springboard to understand your particular strengths and weaknesses in English verbal communication. No preparation necessary. Our goal is to attend to your needs, so you can grow into greater proficiency. Within the first thirty minutes, I will be noting down points that call for attention. In turn, you will be encouraged to mark down questions that may come up from my part in the conversation.
The lesson is similar to copy editing and proofreading a text, only it is done verbally. Nevertheless, I won't be correcting you as you speak, nor will I make any comments to break up the flow of the conversation for its allotted 30 min.
We will spend the last 20 min. of the lesson on specifics of vocabulary, pronunciation and overall delivery. Grammar and syntax will be discussed if a persistent issue arises, but intermediary English proficiency should cover the bases here.
This isn't an evaluation on your English level, but on what details of communication are asking for some attention so ease and confidence can come naturally. You can continue to build upon the lesson's revelations in another conversation, or move to the specialized topics I offer here.
Aside from improving listening and speaking skills, the course aims to build confidence in thinking in English directly, rather than translating your native language in your head as you speak. That confidence puts any other English speaker at ease, even more than grammatical correctness or having a native accent. The benefits of immersive conversation are increased, after all, when complemented with understanding of how our expression comes across.
