- TALK to someone about the most meaningful day of your life.

- What was it like?
- What did you get out of it?
- You just did your first draft!
- In your essay SHOW them who you are. Do not just TELL them.
- This is not a speech. It is a conversation.
- If they ask, “Why us?”
- This is a different essay for each school!
- Do your research!
- What skills and attributes will you bring to them?
- Where in the school specifically will you bring them?
- Be careful about the 4 “D”s
- Death
- Drugs
- Divorce
- Debating
- You can write about these. It’s just difficult to do it really well while letting them get to know YOU.
- Use the 4 “C”s
- Content
- Creativity
- Clarity
- Correctness
- Don’t just have any English teacher proofread. Get one who knows you well.
- When the reader looks up, she should be surprised you are not in the room.
- Write how you speak. Your voice is the most important thing.
- If you don’t care about your topic why would they?
