Ted Talks, as retold by you.
Detalles de la lección
So, who is this Ted guy and why is what he's saying so important?
Well, here's the scoop. TED isn't really a person. It's a nonprofit platform devoted to spreading ideas through short, powerful talks in different areas like Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED). Its motto is 'Ideas worth spreading.'.
Starting as an annual conference in 1984, today it spans almost all topics, ranging from motivational, professional and global issues delivered in over 100 different languages.
Speakers include the likes of former U.S. president Bill Clinton, artists such as Bono, entrepreneur Bill Gates and primatologist Jane Goodall, just to name a few.
I'll provide you with a link to a short presentation (generally less than 7 minutes) which you'll prepare* before the lesson.
During the lesson, you're asked for a short summary of what the talk deals with, your thoughts on the subject and then any questions you may have concerning pronunciation, vocabulary or expressions.
There is also a longer 50-minute version of this lesson which requires you to speak using specific terms and more detail.
*Prepare simply means to listen to the talk, noting any difficulties, vocabulary, or questions you may have in understanding the presentation.
