Lesson Overview:
This fun and engaging 25-minute lesson introduces kindergarten students to the seven continents using a colorful virtual globe. Through simple vocabulary, songs, and interactive activities, students will learn the names of the continents and some fun characteristics about each one.
Lesson Breakdown:
1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)
- Goal: Get students excited about the topic.
- Activity:
- Greeting students with a big smile! Question:, “Who has seen a globe before?”
- Then show them a bright, colorful image or a simple video of a globe.
- Then tell them, “Today, we are going to visit the continents on the globe!”
2. Vocabulary Introduction (5 minutes)
- Goal: Introduction of the names of the continents using fun visuals.
- Vocabulary:
- The names of the continents: are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
- Activity:
- Point to each continent on a colorful globe or interactive map.
- Sing a simple song about the continents (like “The Continent Song”) while encouraging students to sing along.
- Repeat each continent’s name, and have students mimic the teacher: “Asia!” “Africa!”
3. Fun Facts & Interactive Exploration (10 minutes)
- Goal: Make learning fun with stories and movement.
- Activity:
- Share simple, fun facts about each continent while pointing at them:
- “Asia is the biggest continent! It has tall mountains!”
- “In Africa, you can see lions and elephants!”
- “Australia has kangaroos that jump!”
- Play a quick game:
- “Continent Dance!” When the teacher says a continent’s name, students do a fun movement (jumping like kangaroos for Australia, roaring like lions for Africa).
- Share simple, fun facts about each continent while pointing at them:
4. Simple Conversation Practice (3 minutes)
- Goal: Encourage sharing and express preferences.
- Activity:
- Asking simple questions:
- “Which continent would you like to visit?”
- “What animal do you want to see?”
- Allow students to respond with one or two words. While Supporting them with sentence starters like, “I want to see…”

5. Wrap-Up and Review (2 minutes)
- Goal: Reinforce what they learned and end on a high note.
- Activity:
- I will quickly review by pointing to each continent and having students shout out their names.
- Sing the continent song one more time, encouraging students to join in.
- Then conclude with a cheerful note: “You did an amazing job exploring the continents today!”
