Lesson Plan: Daily (English) Conversation
Lesson Type: Speaking
Duration of Lesson: 40 minutes
Level of Students: C1/C2 adults
Nationality of Students: mostly Japanese, some students come from neighbouring countries
Possible Challenges:
More advanced expressions will not make sense within the grammar of the students' native language
Students may be tempted to alter or misconjugate set phrases or expressions in order to better understand them
Students might need extra prompting or eliciting to speak fluently about their own interests, especially in a second language

Aim
- To increase students' self-confidence when discussing their own interests by conversing with a native speaker
- To have students complete a diagnostic test in order to assess their strengths and weaknesses (e.g. grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary).
- To teach the correct meaning, form and grammar of new and useful vocabulary (and expressions) within the context of an informal conversation in English, about the students' interests

Pre-teach any vocabulary that might be useful for the next stage in the lesson. Use realia if necessary.

- Read and discuss an article about the student's interests
- Read a news article (just ONE paragraph) related to the students' interests, share your screen on Zoom.
Interview about the students interests

How did you start doing (interest/hobby)?
What can you teach me about (interest/hobby)?
Correct grammar, introduce useful expressions, send notes on the lesson to the student.
Answer questions from the student. Send the student a report on the lesson. Ask for feedback.
