Hi everyone!

My name is Rick, and I’m from Montreal, Quebec Canada.

I’ve always had an interest in languages, reading, writing and traveling and it’s those interests which led me to become interested in teaching.

I began my teaching career many years ago in Japan and the experience teaching high school students, and adults, watching them progress and hearing about their country through their eyes inspired me to go back to school and earn a Masters degree in teaching English as an second language as well as a Masters degree in English literature studies.

I now teach college level English literature classes based on genres and themes. On Cafetalk, I teach intermediate or advanced level students. My private classes are student centred. This means that while I may lead the discussion, you will be speaking more. I have a set structure to my lessons, but I prefer to structure my lessons based on what you feel would best benefit you and help you improve your English skills.  I have a friendly style and approach to teaching, and I'm generally a positive, curious and considerate person.

Thanks for reading. I hope you will take the next step and book a trial lesson with me. By taking my classes, you will add to your English vocabulary, learn new expressions, avoid common mistakes in English, discuss a variety of topics and through this, gain more confidence in your English speaking abilities.
