Hello, こんにちわ! I am Emily, but you can call me Emi, エミ!
I am a young adult native English speaker from America currently residing in Japan! I have been traveling abroad for over five years! I have visited and lived in many countries such as Mexico, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Japan. That being said I understand a bit of Latin tongue. I have been living in Japan for almost 2 years so I'm continuing to learn Japanese along the way. I have loved helping my friends and peers learn and understand English more during my travel journeys. Through these experiences I have become very inspired to teach English on a higher level. I enjoy working with teenagers and adults, but I have a special place in my heart for children as well and want to work with all age ranges! As a child I was in speech therapy for many years and my teacher/coach had a huge impact on my life and I would love to leave the same positive impact on other children and adults!
I want my "students" to feel that this will be more of a "friend helping a friend" relationship and less of a student to teacher relationship. Of course, I will be teaching you everything you want to learn and helping you achieve your goals! But most importantly I strive for my lessons to be a safe space for you to practice your English skills and to become more confident using the skills you learn during our sessions. That being said, feel free to make mistakes. This is a judgement free zone. I will correct you along the way but I want your lessons to be stress free and enjoyable.
The things you need for my courses are simple and minimal. You will need a pen and paper, I recommend a notebook so you can keep all your notes piled in one space. Once we start practicing email and letter formats, I want to recieve your emails and review them myself. We will also do simple role play of every day interactions. The only other thing you need that is most important, is an open mind and positive attitude! Learning new language skills are not easy, especially when it comes to elevating your English! So please give yourself grace and have faith not only in yourself, but me as well.
