Greetings everyone! Konnichiwa and Hello! I am very excited to be a part of the Cafetalk Community! I LOVE Japan and all things Japanese!
I had the honor and privilege of living on Yokota Air Base for five years with my husband and three children. While we were in Japan, I taught English to children and adults. Our lessons ranged from specific, formal, detailed English language lessons on phonics, grammar, speaking, reading, writing and Eiken preparation to more relaxed conversational English lessons that sometimes included lessons with idioms, pictures, videos or drama. Many lessons were just fun question and answer sessions where my students and I got to know each other better. I brought my love of teaching to every lesson and my passion for getting to know each student's proficiency level, needs, interests and desires so I could do the very best job individualizing and personalizing every lesson correctly.
I believe that learning English should not be done in isolation (by only memorizing a lot of words and rules), but it should be done by applying the language to life and living each lesson through activities involving each student's favorite things and interests.
I have an Associates Degree in Education from Young Harris University and a Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Georgia. I have Masters hours in Teacher Leadership, ESL, and Educational Testing. I am a life-long learner and will continue to take classes to learn and improve myself as long as I live! I love teaching children and adults! You are never too old to learn! So I encourage all adults to follow your dreams without fear! I am a very patient, kind and encouraging person. In addition to living in Japan, I also lived in Germany for twelve years! I taught there as well. In the United States I have lived and taught in seven different states. I taught Chinese children and young adults online with another company for five years.
Coming back to Japan virtually to teach is such an exciting honor and thrills me because it is like coming home! I cannot wait to meet your children and you adults too! Join me!
