Chima Perfil del(de la) tutor/a

Hello everyone!
My name is Chima, and I teach Japanese and Korean on Cafetalk.
Please feel free to call me “ちま先生 (Chima sensei)” ^^

* My Profile *

I live in Nagoya, Japan.
After graduating from college, I assisted international students living in Japan.
I not only helped them study Japanese, but I also helped them experience Japanese culture and enjoy their lives in Japan.

This is when I decided that I wanted to work as a Japanese language teacher, so I attended a school dedicated to teaching Japanese education, and graduated from a curriculum called the “Course in Advanced Skills of Teaching Japanese”.

I am currently teaching 19 international students at a Japanese language school.
I have taught students from China, Taiwan, South Korea, England, Nepal, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan... and many other countries.
At Cafetalk, I would like to focus on free talking and teach not just “textbook Japanese, but the language that Japanese speakers actually use” and to teach “not only Japanese language, but also the culture as well!”

I also teach Korean as I have had many opportunities to use Korean in my daily life, and I wanted to “use my experience to teach Korean from a Japanese speaker’s perspective.” ^^

I am currently teaching Korean to 6 Japanese students at a vocational school.
I believe that I can offer advice as I am also a Japanese speaker, so I recommend my lessons to those who feel a bit nervous about taking lessons with a native tutor from the start!

* My classroom scene *

* My interests and favorite thing *

1. Traveling

I have traveled to South Korea the most.
I have been to so many places including Seoul (서울), Busan (부산), Daegu (대구), Daejeon (대전), Yeosu (여수), Suncheon (순천), and Jeonju (전주).
I cannot keep track of the number of times I have been to South Korea! lol
The one thing I always eat when I go to South Korea is “kopchang (곱창).”

I have also been to Hawaii.
The country I want to visit the most now is Taiwan ^^

My favorite place to visit in Japan is Kyoto.
I enjoy wearing kimono and exploring the city while eating!
The autumn foliage in Kyoto is also beautiful, isn’t it?

2. Manga and Anime

I have enjoyed reading manga and watching anime since I was a child!
I especially like Shounen manga ^^

If you also like manga and/or anime, why not join me for a fun chat about manga & anime?

3. Studying languages

So far, I have studied Korean, Chinese, and English.
As a result, I understand both the “joy” and “struggles” of studying a language.

“How can I make learning a language more fun?”
“How can help my students understand the complicated parts of the language?”
…These are the things I am always thinking when I teach ^^

So, why are you studying Japanese/Korean?
Do you like anime? Like the food? Like the TV dramas? Like the music? Want to study abroad? Want to live in Japan or South Korea? Or do you simply like it?…I am sure that there are many reasons.

Chima-sensei will help you to enjoy studying Japanese/Korean while respecting your reasons and feelings for studying those languages ^^

Let’s study hard together!

* To students requesting a lesson with me for the first time *

To ensure that your lesson goes smoothly, please send me a message with a brief self-introduction.
For example: My name is Chima. I studied Japanese on my own for a year. I am good at listening, but not so good at speaking. I would like to learn more natural Japanese.

* My lessons *

・During the lesson, I will show you the correct sentences each time via chat.
・I will send you feedback after each lesson.
・I offer original learning materials for my Japanese free-talking lessons.
・You can take lessons with either your video turned on or off.
・I will try to adjust my schedule as much as possible, so please feel free to contact me even if there are no openings for your desired lesson time.

* My Instagram account *
At first, my activities were aimed at Korean students who were learning Japanese, but from I hope to reach out to both Japanese and Korean language learners around the world, so please don’t hesitate to join me for a lesson♪
