'Student Focused' is how I describe my teaching style and approach. I aim to identify each student's individual needs & interests, then tailor my lessons to match those needs. I'm TEFL certified and have a real passion for teaching and helping others learn and improve their English language skills.
As a teacher, I am very patient and encouraging. I try to create a relaxed and supportive environment for my students as I believe this is the best way for them to learn and develop their language skills. I provide a wide range of lessons focused on Business English, Listening skills, IELTS Test Preparation, English Conversation, English Grammar, Pronunciation, Vocabulary development, Functional English and Document proofreading and editing.
I have helped hundreds of students prepare for and achieve their goals in IELTS - the most popular English language proficiency test for people wanting to study or work in English speaking countries. And with 20 years of experience in the business world working for global companies such as Citi Group, Lehman Brothers, Qantas and Nomura securities I can help you in all aspects of Business English from verbal communication, interview preparation, vocabulary development and delivering effective presentations.
A bit more about me
My name is Jeff and I'm from Sydney Australia but spent 10 years living and working in Japan. After completing a Bachelor of Business Degree in Australia, I first went to Japan in my early 20s on a working holiday visa, then later returned on a working visa where I worked mainly in finance and information technology. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Japan and the country, people and culture made a big impression on me.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, watching and playing sport, listening to music, playing guitar and watching movies. I speak Japanese reasonably well and can discuss and communicate well about everyday topics.
