Greetings, English student friends! :)
This is Andrew, and I am your next English coach! I will help you improve your English according to your own goals, learning styles, and passions and interests. When you get on board this journey of learning English with me, it is very important that you clarify your goals. Why do you want to learn English? When do you want to achieve that goal? Also, you should enjoy the process of learning. Do you know how you can enjoy learning English? The answer to that is, simply, what do you enjoy most in life? What are you most passionate about? What do you care the most about? Whatever that is, you should do it IN ENGLISH.
Who am I?
My name is Andrew :) I am originally from Korea, but I left Korea 20 years ago to study abroad in the United States. After living in the US until 2014, I came to Canada in 2015, and now I am married to my beautiful wife whom I met in Canada.
I found my calling for teaching after I taught at an alternative international high school in Korea during my brief stay in Korea in 2014. I love teaching and empowering students to help them flourish in life.
Also, with my experience as an international student for 19 years, I understand firsthand the struggles and challenges of learning a new language as well as a new culture.
I have a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate, and I enjoy teaching students from all over the world and learning about different cultures from them. I believe that teaching is an interactional and relational activity where the teacher and the students become friends and learn from each other :)
I also learned Japanese for 3 years in my high school and college years, so I can speak Japanese at a very basic level ^_^
Teaching Style
I am patient, kind, and relaxed, so you will find it easy to learn with me. I like to get to know more about you as a person; such as what your dreams and passions and goals of life are, your interests and hobbies, learning styles, etc. I do not want you to stress out while learning English. I want you to enjoy and have fun. I want you to find your own purpose for learning English. Whatever your passion is, we will go deeper into your passion. But we will do it while using English instead of simply learning English for the sake of learning English; that is boring and difficult. So be ready to share your life with me! And I will do my best to help you reach your goal and have fun at the same time! :)
