Message from the Tutor

Hello! I'm Christina, and I'm an Asian-American living in Taiwan! I've always loved drawing and have been slowly honing my craft over the years. These days, I'm mainly teaching English (check out my lessons here on Cafetalk if you're interested!), but drawing will always be my main passion. I hope you find the seminar informative and fun!

Curriculum

Follow along with any medium you want, whether it's sketchbook paper and pencil or with a digital drawing app!
Tutor Christina Loo will be doing the seminar with a digital drawing program, but the concepts are applicable to anything. Of course, if you want to actually make the cards, having card stock/thick paper and markers/crayons/colored pencils at hand is best!

  • 1. Short self introduction (1min)
  • 2. An overview of the card-making steps (3-5 min)
  • 3. Planning stage - thumbnailing (5-7 min)
  • 4. Planning stage - inspiration and ideas (7-8 min)
  • 5. Sketching out the design (5-7 min)
  • 6. Drawing the lines or going straight in with color (7-10 min)
  • 7. Coloring (if not done already) (5-7 min)
  • 8. Quick overview on lettering (5-7 min)
  • 9. Q&A (remaining time)

*Please be aware that the tutor will not be making physical cards during this seminar. It will be focusing on the main drawing/graphic that goes on the outside of the card, but the tutor might also show how people can format or decorate other parts of the card.

*Please note that opinions expressed by the tutor during the seminar are the tutor’s and do not necessarily reflect a general opinion by Cafetalk.
