The Roald Dahl books

The Roald Dahl books are easy to read, but fun and interesting. Great for children or adults. A good level especially for elementary to intermediate students, but also fun for advanced learners. The language used is very natural, so they are useful for daily life. Also, reading the Roald Dahl books is great for cultural education as every native English speaker knows these stories, they are very famous. I first read these books as a child in English, but later they helped me learn French as well, I read the French versions.

Short Stories in English for Beginners

The book includes 8 stories that don’t use difficult language or grammar. I think it’s a top choice for beginners because the stories are entertaining and they are truly for beginners (A1 level). They focus on the most commonly used words and have natural-sounding dialogue so you can see how people speak English in real life.
The aspect I found most helpful was the “Six-Step Reading Process” section near the beginning. This tells you how to read the stories effectively and learn from them. In the following sections, each story has a word list, plot summary, and comprehension questions to check for understanding.

タイトルには「ロシア語」とありますが、外国語を学び、かつ習得したいと思っている全ての方にオススメの本です。この本に出会ったのは、ロシア語を勉強しようと文法書を検索している時でした。この本を読むと、私自身がフランス語を学び始めた時と重なる部分が多く、初心に戻れます。本の帯にある「ひたすら発音、そして暗唱　他のやり方は知らない」という文言は、まさに昔の私が実践していた事でもあります。
黒田先生は、他にも外国語学習や言語学に関する本を多く著しています。どの本も独特のリズム感と可笑しみに溢れていて、思わず著書をコレクションしてしまう方（←私の事です）もいらっしゃるのでは？
今は外国語学習に必要なものは全て揃っており、AIの発達により、外国語を習得する意義も問われるようになりました。このような時代だからこそ、外国語を学ぶ一人一人が、自分なりの意味や価値を見出しつつ、淡々と日々の学習を継続していければ、それはとても幸せな事じゃないかなぁと思います。
