You know you've been living in Japan for a long time when......**New Column Series**

David

Good afternoon and thank you for checking out my new column series! :-)

I decided to start a new light hearted series of posts, based on my observations whilst living in Japan.

My girlfriend and I have been visiting Japan for the past 9 or 10 years, and have been living here now for almost 2 years.
We have noticed that over this period we have become more and more integrated in to society, and are regularly making jokes about how we feel like we are almost Japanese citizens now.

*Before reading any further - this is meant as a bit of FUN. Whilst everything I'm saying is totally true, please do not be offended or feel the need to comment or criticize my posts. This is not here to be an essay. These are merely posts to make those of us who can relate to what I am saying, smile and laugh.
I am fully aware that I am NOT Japanese and I never will be. I am British, and therefore have a British sense of humour which is very different to that of Asians. But that said - I love this country with all my heart, and I have met such incredible people here who are an integrated part of my life now*

'You know you've been living in Japan for a long time when......

You can walk inside 3 or 4 different supermarkets in Japan and you know the words to the supermarket songs! :-)

I noticed today when I went in to the 3 supermarkets in Nara that I know all of the theme songs!
Even in Okinawa and Hokkaido we know the words to the supermarket jingles that play on repeat when you walk around the stores.

At first we found these songs highly annoying, and couldn't beleive it was even LEGAL to play the same 15 or 20 second song on repeat - ALL DAY! Imagine how crazy the employees of these stores must be. They must hear these songs in their sleep! Haha.

But now I find these songs amusing and we laugh and sing whenever we hear them!

I will certainly miss this if we return to the UK.......

Have a lovely day everyone and thank you so much for reading!

Please feel free to comment below if you so wish :-)
